The YMCA is located in the City centre adjacent to the Arts Centre and the Botanical Gardens. They cater for male and female guests with a choice of single and twin rooms. All rooms have linen and duvets provided. The dining room provides simple, but sustainable meals. An excellent choice in a great location with lots of recreational activity. YHANZ Hostels
The Youth Hostel Assn NZ has two city centre locations at 273 Manchester Street and 5 Worcester Boulevard opposite the Arts Centre. Phone (03) 366-6564

Dormitory accommodation for male and female guests is short term, maximum of three nights. Linen is provided and they have excellent kitchen facilities for guests to cook their own meals. Another great choice while looking for longer term accommodation.

Rental Flats
Quality economical flats are readily available in the nearby suburbs of Sydenham, Addington, Opawa, Linwood, Spreydon, Hoon Hay and Central City. More expensive accommodation can be found close by in Cashmere.

The weekly paper "Buy Sell & Exchange" and the Saturday morning edition of "The Press" publish a large section on accommodation. Copies of these papers can be purchased at most service stations, dairies and stationery shops.

Bus Services

A bus service runs down Colombo Street into Cathedral Square at frequent intervals. The nearest bus stop is located on the corner of Colombo St and Stanley St, just 200m walk from the College. (Routes 10, 11, 13, 15, 28, 66 and 67).  The free City Shuttle bus stops at the corner of Colombo Street and Moorhouse Ave approximately 1 km walk from the College through the Sydenham shopping area.

The sale of alcohol and tobacco products is prohibited to those under the age of 18.

The consumption and carrying of alcohol in public is banned within the central city area bounded by Moorhouse Avenue, Hagley Avenue, Rolleston Avenue, Park Terrace, Bealey Avenue and Fiztgerald Ave.
