Electronic Field Technician

Equipment manufacturers and specialist service companies contracted by manufacturers employ Electronics Field Technicians to install, service and repair equipment at the user's location. Examples are automatic teller machines, business equipment, audiovisual systems, environmental control systems, and telecommunications sites to name just a few. Electrical Service Technician-A (EST-A) limited registration is an invaluable qualification for this vocation.

The manufacturer usually provides 'product specific' training on the job. Electronics Field Technicians may work out of corporate headquarters or field service centres. They often cover large geographical areas and may be rostered on after hours call out. The incentives may include high after hours penal rates, paid telephone, meal allowances, private use of a company vehicle and overseas travel.
