Introduction
The Electrical Appliance Serviceperson (EAS) course is delivered over a four week period as part of our full-time Certificate in Applied Electronics Technology programme.
This is not a stand-alone short course, or trade refresher course. It forms an integral part of the Certificate programme and students must successfully complete the pre-requisite subjects in electrical theory and electrical practice before we will permit you to undertake the EAS subjects in the final stage
of Course DAET02 Electrical Practice.

EAS Qualification
Electrical Appliance Serviceperson registration is required for testing, servicing and repairing electrical appliances and equipment designed for connection to a single phase
electricity supply by a flexible cord and plug and rated at a voltage not exceeding 230 volts.
Electec College is contracted by the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) to deliver the theoretical
training and assess the practical skills, but the final theory examination at the end of the course is prepared and marked by the EWRB.

 |
Students who pass the EWRB examination automatically qualify for accreditation of the NZQF unit standards nos 10933, 10934, 10935 and 10936 awarded by the New Zealand
Qualifications Authority.
Full details of the course content can be found in the 'Electrical Appliance Serviceperson Handbook' published by the EWRB and available from the Government
