Telecommunications Technician

Telecommunications Technicians are employed by a variety of organisations including Clear Communications, Telecom, Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, network and exchange equipment suppliers, radio and television network operators, business equipment suppliers and installation/maintenance service providers like Alstom, Connectel and a host of other contracting companies.

Technicians are involved in the operation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications and broadcasting networks and equipment. They work indoors and outdoors and in association with rigging and engineering staff. This vocation involves a lot of local travel and the opportunity to seek high-paid employment overseas.

A Telecommunications Rigger combines all the skills of a Telecommunications Technician with the specialist skills required to work in extreme locations, such as underground tunnels and at heights on buildings and towers.
