Computer Hardware Technician

The definition of a Computer Technician can be broad and open to conjecture, so to keep it simple we have divided this vocation into two categories - Hardware and Software.

(See Information Technology section for details on Software Technician).

Computer Hardware Technicians are specialists in systems 'hardware' and will probably have formal qualifications in the science of Electronics Engineering, which includes the fields of Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology and Telecommunications. Electrical Service Technician-A (EST-A) limited registration is an essential prerequisite for his vocation.

These technicians are usually employed by an equipment manufacturer or specialist service company contracted by a manufacturer to service, upgrade and repair computer hardware at the service center and install and repair network systems or at the user's location.
