technicians can transfer their skills to related fields such as computer service technician, or avionics technician. There is also an increasing demand for technicians to work in technical sales and customer

Qualification Overview
This is a 42-week, full-time programme that provides a comprehensive understanding of the theory and practical skills required to meet employment outcomes as an apprentice, or 'entry level technician' in the field of
electrotechnology. The qualification was designed in consultation with representatives of the NZ electrotechnology industry to meet pre-employment training requirements. Approximately 40% of the programme is comprised
of practical experiments and assignments,

The programme includes three pre-trade qualifications recognised by all sectors of the electrotechnology industry. These are:
- The National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (level 2)
- The National Certificate in Electronic Engineering (level 3)
- Electrical Appliance Serviceperson (EAS) limited registration

Programme Content
The Certificate in Applied Electronics Technology covers a comprehensive range of foundation subjects based on NZQF unit standards in the fields of Electrical
Engineering and Electronic Engineering. The major subjects are:

NZ Domestic Student Fee: This is a ZERO fees course for NZ domestic
students.
A domestic student is defined as a citizen of New Zealand (including Cook Islands, Tokelau, or Niue students who have New Zealand citizenship), or a citizen or permanent resident of Australia residing in
NZ, or a citizen of any other nationality who holds a current NZ Residents Permit.

This is a zero fees, electrical and electronics training course to prepare graduates for an electrical apprenticeship, or trainee electronics technician role in the electrotechnology industry.
