About Electec College

 

Electec National College of Technology Limited (trading as Electec College) is a private tertiary education provider based in Christchurch that specialises in ICT training. ICT stands for Information and Communication Technology and includes electrical engineering, electronics engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering and computer software development.
   
We designed our courses to meet the most up to date industry requirements to maximise your opportunities for employment. Our qualifications include:


  • National Qualifications Framework unit standards, and National Certificates where applicable, that meet the essential pre-employment training requirements for the respective industry sectors
  • Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) curriculum that covers the latest CompTIA A+ and Network+ certification exam objectives
  • Microsoft IT Academy Program curriculums that cover the relevant Microsoft certification exam objectives
  • Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) curriculum that covers the EWRBs Electrical Service Technician (EST-A) exam objectives
  • Soldering and surface mount technology to the international standards certified by the Institute for Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits (IPC) standards.
  • Subjects that provide a solid foundation for you to build your knowledge and skills to higher levels after entering employment.
  • The maximum amount of education and training possible in realistic time frames

Electec College can also provide short courses and on-job assessment for ICT employers. The training can be customised to meet your companies specific needs.

Accreditation Status

Electec College is accredited by the following regulatory authorities:

  • The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) as a Private Tertiary Education Provider with accreditation to deliver training in the sub-fields of Computing, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology and Telecommunications up to level 6 on the National Qualifications  Framework.
  • The New Zealand Qualifications Authority with accreditation to the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students
  • The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) as a Tertiary Education Organisation (TEO) with courses approved for Student Component Funding Subsidies and StudyLink student loans and allowances
  • Microsoft Corporation as a Microsoft IT Academy to provide computer training for advanced Microsoft certification programmes including MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCTS (.NET 2.0 Windows Applications) and MCTS (.NET 2.0 Web Applications)
  • Microsoft as a subscriber to the Microsoft Developers Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) which gives students and staff access to a comprehensive range of Microsoft development software products and online resources for academic purposes
  • Thompson Prometric as a Prometric Testing Centre for computer on-line testing of IT certfication programs. 
  • The Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) as a training service provider for Electrical Service Technician-A (EST-A) registration.
  • Education Christchurch as a member of their regional consortium of quality assured education providers administered by the Canterbury Development Corporation. 

Change of Course Content

Electec College reserves the right to change the content of a course any point in time when such changes are made on the recommendation of our industry advisors, or the relevant regulatory authorities, to improve the knowledge and skills outcomes. Students will be advised in advance of any course content changes.

Reschedule and Cancellation of Programme Dates

Electec College reserves the right to reschedule or cancel any qualification programme prior to the start date if for any reason the College cannot commence that programme on the scheduled date. Under such circumstances Electec College will not be held liable for the postponement or cancellation. If you are enrolled on a cancelled programme we will offer you an alternative programme date, or fully refund any programme fees paid in advance.
